Kalis New Legs

Look at that GORGEOUS face!

Kia Ora all!

This post is super special, so please keep reading!  The photo is of Kali.  She was born 6 weeks premature and was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia – a form of Cerebral Palsy.  Kali’s condition means she has difficulty walking and balancing as the spasticity in her legs makes the muscles extremely tight.  Although amazed at Kali’s ability to walk unassisted now, doctors have said her condition will worsen and she could be in a wheelchair by the age of five.

There is an operation called ‘selective dorsal rhizotomy’ that has enabled children like Kali to remain mobile.  The operation is not available in New Zealand where she lives.
Luckly Kali has been accepted to have the operation by a top surgeon in the United States on March 12th.  This will cost upward of $100,000 for her parents and a month in the USA for intensive physiotherapy.

If you would like to show your support and get more information, please visit the Kalis New Legs facebook page.

If you would like to purchase one or more fundraiser raffle tickets for Kali, please do so here.

All donations outside of New Zealand will still be eligible for the raffle prize and we will happily post internationally.   The raffle will be drawn by Kali’s mum Amanda after they return from America [week ending April 14th].
